Piano Repair
  • A beautifully restored Baldwin.
  • We take care to do the job in the way it should be done, with tonal considerations at the top of the list, even for the older upright.

  • Here is a pic of a restrung 5’6″ 1901 Weber grand that I did.
  • We rebuild uprights of good quality. This one shows a Baldwin upright taken apart to be restrung. We remove all case parts to allow access for restringing.
  • Picture of me working on a rescaling of the strings of a piano. There is a program developed specifically to evaluate the original scale, and then has the capability to calculate improvements, which will make the piano sound better and tune smoother.
  • Here’s a pic showing what the key pins look like after they are cleaned and polished. This is something I do after I replace the key bushings so they won’t wear out prematurely, and so there won’t be any drag when the key is depressed. This is one of many important factors in a properly functioning piano, and contributes to a smooth touch.
  • After installing a new pinblock, it must be drilled out for the new tuning pins and strings.
  • This is what gluing in a new soundboard looks like. A lot had to take place before this happens, and a lot happens after. It is clamped in overnight.
